1 student killed, 2 injured in Santa Ana High School stabbing

Three students were transported to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a stabbing attack outside Santa Ana High School.

“Today, at approximately 3:25 p.m., our officers responded to Santa Ana High School regarding a stabbing involving three victims, all believed to be students,” the Santa Ana Police Department said on X. “SAPD officers, along with Santa Ana School Police, have established a perimeter in the area in an effort to locate the outstanding suspects. Please stay away from the area.”

The SAPD announced two victims were in stable condition, and a third was in critical condition. By the evening, the victim who was in critical condition had died.

“The incident involved an altercation among several individuals, occurring shortly after dismissal,” Santa Ana Unified School District said in a statement

“Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased presence of Santa Ana School Police on and around Santa Ana HS on Thursday. To support our students during this difficult time, crisis counselors will be available on Thursday at Santa Ana High School, Heninger School, and any other campuses affected by this event,” the statement continued.

SAPD spokesperson Natalie Garcia told reporters the attack appeared to be gang-related. It is not clear if the suspects attended Santa Ana High School.

A spokesperson for the SAPD told the Los Angeles Post the names of the suspects would not be released, but that more information was forthcoming soon. According to police, two suspects remain at large. Anyone with information is urged to call the SAPD at (714) 245-8665.
