Dozens of individuals assembled near downtown Los Angeles early Sunday, vandalizing Metro rail cars and commercial establishments while one person performed fire-breathing stunts. Law enforcement responded to multiple reports of the disruptive gathering, but no arrests were made during the incident.

The crowd gathered around midnight near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Maple Avenue, located south of the downtown area. News outlet OnScene.TV captured footage showing some attendees in party attire, including individuals wearing pink platform shoes and cat ear accessories.

One man drank a flammable liquid from a jug and spat it onto a torch, creating flames that shot into the air as a police helicopter circled overhead. Another man wearing a leather jacket climbed up a light pole, his feet perched on a street sign. He pulled out his phone and recorded himself talking into the camera.

An A-Line Metro train traveling on Washington Boulevard became the focus of the group's attention. Video shows vandals applying spray paint to the rail car's surfaces and striking windows with implements.

Close to 50 people blocked rail traffic in both directions at the intersection, causing service interruptions lasting around 20 minutes, according to Jose Ubaldo, a Metro spokesperson.

Officer Kevin Terzes, an LAPD spokesperson, stated the L.A. Police Department received initial notification at 12:12 a.m., Sunday, regarding five individuals who had boarded a train car and were vandalizing its interior. A subsequent report arrived at 12:19 a.m. concerning people being "disruptive" on a train near Washington Boulevard and Trinity Street.

Video showed dozens of LAPD officers forming a skirmish line across the street from the mob, carrying riot guns that fire foam rounds. Terzes said no arrests were made in connection with either police call. Officers did not clarify whether separate arrests occurred related to vandalism at nearby businesses.

The crowd spray-painted building exteriors, including those of a Panda Express, Waba Grill, a dialysis facility, and a medical office. Some participants took selfies beside a spray-painted LAPD cruiser, cursed at officers, threw a firework, and kicked the patrol car as officers drove away.

Ubaldo verified that vandals had damaged the exteriors and interiors of trains but confirmed that no harm came to passengers or Metro personnel. Officials requested anyone possessing information regarding the incident to contact the LAPD at (800) 222-8477.
