A Maryland woman has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly strangling her 11-year-old daughter and killing four family pets, according to authorities.

Keyona Dillon, 34, was arrested after police discovered the body of her daughter, London Olsen, inside their Middle River home on Jan. 23. Officers responding around noon also found a dog, two cats, and a rabbit dead, the Baltimore County Police Department said, as reported by WWNY-TV.

According to charging documents cited by WWNY-TV, Dillon told police she killed the animals “to show [the] victim what would happen to her if she didn’t tell the truth.” Investigators found a ligature mark on the child’s neck, WBFF reported.

A 5-year-old sibling told police that Dillon had beaten the pets with a hammer the night before London’s death, according to CBS News. Three other children were found unharmed inside the home.

Charging documents also state that Dillon exhibited erratic behavior when speaking to police, making statements about child sex rings, transsexuals, and the Proud Boys, claiming she was being framed, WWNY-TV reported.

Dillon remains in custody without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Court records do not indicate whether she has entered a plea.

The Baltimore County Police Department continues to investigate. Officials have not provided additional details about the circumstances leading to the child’s death or the status of the surviving children.
