Police say a guy from Boston stabbed someone while trying to steal a motorcycle and then beat the dog of his girlfriend. Among the charges against him are attempted murder.
Abram Acevedo, 31, went to the Roxbury section of Boston Municipal Court on Wednesday for a dangerousness hearing. Acevedo was ordered to be held without bail until the hearing by Judge Steven Kim.
In a statement, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said that “We request dangerousness hearings only when an individual’s conduct presents an imminent or ongoing threat to the community, which is clearly the case here.”
“Thankfully the injuries to the people and the dog in these incidents are non-life threatening. But the psychological trauma of attacks is always something we’re concerned about,” he said.
Acevedo was charged with two counts of assault and battery on July 2. He was also charged with attempted murder and intimidating witnesses.
The charges come from two different events. Someone stabbed a 49-year-old guy several times in the arm on June 24 near the Bromley Heath housing development. Police were called. Authorities were informed that the victim was attacked by a man who was trying to steal his motorbike, which was later found abandoned in a walkway.
His partner told the cops that when he got mad, he grabbed her Shih Tzu dog by the neck, shook it a few times, and then slammed it into a wall. This happened on July 1. The dog then threw up, according to the office of the district attorney.
The girlfriend also said Acevedo made threats against her with a broom, which made her run away. Acevedo had made threats and tried to bite her face before, she told the cops, including this time.
Prosecutors said Acevedo's partner said he told her he did "something bad on Center Street last week," which could have been a reference to the stabbing earlier.
