English actor Jude Law attended the unveiling of a star in his honor on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday, accompanied by his wife and two children.
In a speech, Law thanked his family for their support over the course of his career.
“I’ve been very very lucky to have had a family around me that have lived with and supported my passion for acting and filmmaking," Law said. "And some of those members of my lovely family are here today. And they know what they mean to me. I love them so much."
Law was born in London England in 1972. He began acting as an adolescent in musical theatre productions. He was cast in the television adaptation of “Beatrix Potter” in 1989, and then starred in the drama “Shopping,” released 1994.
By the mid-2000s, he was considered one of the leading stars in the film industry, regularly booking leading roles in major Hollywood productions.
More recently, Law starred as Albus Dumbledore in 2018’s “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and as Captain Hook in “Peter Pan & Wendy.”
Since he began acting, Law has received awards for both his television and theatrical performances. He was nominated for two Academy Awards (in 1999 for “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” and then again in 2003 for “Cold Mountain”), and won the BAFTA award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1999.
