A 43-year-old teacher was arrested in Valley Village Thursday on charges relating to the sexual assault of a minor.
According to a statement by the Los Angeles Police Department, Colleen Jo Matarico “groomed and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old victim in her classroom, and later convinced the victim to have sexual intercourse in her vehicle.”
Matarico has been charged with five counts of lewd acts with a minor, two counts of lewd acts with a minor 14 or 15 years of age, and one count of furnishing marijuana to a minor.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Matarico is being held on a $1.3 million dollar bail.
A social media account which appears to belong to Matarico states that she is a special education teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
The LAPD is investigating the possibility that there are additional victims.
Anyone who has additional information is asked to contact Juvenile Division detectives at 424-259-7097. During non-business hours and weekends, calls can be made to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
